The carpet is manufactured using the loop pile construction method, where the loops are set at two or more individual heights, which creates a textured or three dimensional effect throughtout the carpet. Cut pile twist carpets are constructed with a higher twisted yarn causing the pile to lay in different directions, giving a more textured appearance. Twist pile reduces the effect of shading and retention of foot prints.
Cut and loop pile combines cut and looped fibers. It provides a variety of surface textures or sculptured effects for medium durability. Cut and loop pile carpets are available in solid or multiple colours. The different levels in this type of carpet can hide dirt and footprints in formal and informal areas. This style is achieved by producing a multi level loop carpet and shearing the high loops effectively producing a cut pile amongst loops. The pile surface is level and produces a luxurious finish. This style of carpet is a combination of both cut and loop tufts. The tufts can be of different height, giving a textured and patterned appearance.
This particular style can be known as "high low" carpet as well, and is made up of predominantly cut pile with lines or sculptures of loop pile. This carpet has the ability to disguise marks and soiling better than a plain cut pile - velvet/plush.

Flame retardants:
Flame can destroy not only the carpet but the toxic fumes given off are extremely hazardous to health. Carpets at home are often exposed to flames or sparks from cigarettes, stoves or matches hence this finish is extremely important especially for homes with synthetic carpets.
Moth proofing:
The first consideration while buying a wool carpet should be to check for moth proofing. Fibers of a wool carpet are very rich in protein making them susceptible to moth attacks. This finish is not meant for the synthetic carpets.
Anti-static Finish:
Using an anti-static spray on the carpet can seem an option to you if you haven't gone for one with this finish but the fact is that the sprays do not work well. Anti-static finish is required for all the carpet types as it reduces the chance of getting the electric shocks during the dry winter months, or other times of the year too.
Stain/Soil resistant finishes:
This finish makes the carpet about 3-4 times more resistant towards soiling and staining. This finish makes the carpet fibers resist dirt by not allowing it to stick to the fibers. This finish is basically of two types, fluoro-chemicals and silicone, while the first one protect against both oil borne soils and water borne soils, the second treatment only makes the carpet resistant to watery soiling.
